Doppo was inconsolable over his father’s defeat, but his father consoled him telling young Doppo that fighting isn’t about winning and losing; it was about learning. Doppo Orochi gifted Kanji a shot at the title by saying “Since the legendary coward Gen does not want to face me, I’ll give the next shot at the title to somebody that I know is tough as nails; Igari Kanji!” the crowd erupted with excitement and the next week the fight was on. This through Izo off of his game mentally and Doppo was able to come back and defeat Motobe in exciting fashion. Doppo’s next defense came against a rising star in the Japanese Pro Wrestling ranks Kazushi Sakuraba. Tokugawa was released 2 months before Doppo and those final 2 months of Doppo’s sentence were the most peaceful in the prison since him and Tokugawa became friends. After returning to Japan, Doppo took in his first students, Buntaro and Shintaro Kuno. This outfit was also worn during his second fight with Dorian. Alas neither Gen nor did Yue Shu Ya accept Doppo’s challenge for a Sino-Japanese contest. Doppo told Gen that he did not want to continue to fight him in the shape that Gen is in. Doppo became a student and continued his lifelong career in Karate.
