Was this review helpful? Joe Braven is a logging company owner who lives with his family in Canada. It starts off strong, but then basic common sense calls it a day. Jason Momoa stars as a logger (though he doesn't ever even log in even the opening scene) who is forced to defend his family versus evil drug runners. We assume the movie takes place somewhere in Alaska but they never really said. With the still backgrounds green screens, I assume it is Alaska. A more tight and a good plotline and a better screenplay would have made the movie a better one, rather it just turned out to be a repetitive action genre film like we are used too watch..

The build is slow but it gets tense and doesn't let go once the baddies came in the picture. No one makes a sane decision in this movie. Joe's father, Linden, suffering from dementia, mistakes a woman in a bar for his wife, prompting a barroom brawl that lands Linden in the hospital. At first I thought it was a little odd but by the end of the movie I was yelling at my TV in vain hope that I could talk some sense into the protagonist!

Like the hero taking down a guy holding a big gun by jumping on top of him with an axe. I was hoping this would be a better film, the trailer look incredible. It's one of those good guys vs bad guys films, and not in a bad way.

Not once did any of the protagonists feel the urge to pick up any weapon that was practically thrown at their feet. Every time the enemy was vulnerable and 99 percent finished off the protagonist would simply run off into the woods all the while stumbling over the weapons they seemingly don't have a need for.

I'm sure its difficult as an actor to be forced, by the writing, to pick up an axe over the automatic weapon sitting right next to it in a scene where you're defending your dad/wife, etc. Had a few moments with heart, my girlfriend got choked up during 2 parts.
